SC Department of Public Safety Social & Editorial Content Developer Intern in Richland County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities

The content developer intern will be a part of our innovation team, assisting with conceptualizing & maintaining the content of the Scribble website, associated social media platforms, blogs as well as offline public relations & marketing communications.

Writing copy about innovation, high-scale entrepreneurship, angel/venture investing, applied research, technology commercialization, and economic development are the key themes. Supporting the management of the main customer-facing website, ensuring consistency through-out site with tone of voice, brand and use of imagery. Creation of value-adding, useful, fun, socially shareable content to support the main goals across social media. Assisting in other kinds of content as and when required. Love for grammar, syntax and visual composition. Excellent time management skills, and the ability to work independently, and as part of a team. Work will also have oversight from commerce’s Marketing and Communications division. Great written communication skills; ability to proofread. Video and photography skills are an additional bonus, but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Copy editing and proofreading content
  • Sourcing stock photos
  • Pitch, produce, research and write original content
  • Conduct articulate interviews
  • Incorporate SEO and key search terms into the blog content
  • Help develop editorial voice and content creation across digital platforms
  • Self-manage workload and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines within a small creative team

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate or Senior Undergraduate students with a degree in Journalism, Communication, and related fields are preferred.
  • Flexibility and versatility in performing long term tasks and immediate requests
  • Excellent grasp of grammar and style
  • Exceptional organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
  • Proficient in WordPress Additional Comments
