SC Department of Public Safety *Licensed Practical Nurse (DIS)/Float Pool LPN in Richland County, South Carolina
This position is located and worked within the Division of Inpatient Services to include: G. Werber Bryan, Morris Village, W.S. Hall, C.M.Tucker Nursing Care Center.
Supplemental location pay applies to C.M. Tucker Jr Nursing Care Center & Bryan Psychiatric Hospital facilities. Must meet direct-care qualifications.
*Seeking Full-Time, flexible candidates willing to work twelve (12) hour shifts, across (float) the Department of Mental Health Inpatient Services Campuses. *
Under the supervision of Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care in an assigned area and ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, considering patient needs, cultural and social differences, age and specific educational needs.
Responsible for transcribing physician's orders accurately; safely administers medications and treatments; documents patient's response tendencies.
You will participate in lodge/unit based Performance Improvement activities and evaluate the quality of patient care, effectiveness of nursing practice, and outcomes of care.
Using therapeutic communication, you will demonstrate age-specific competencies reflecting knowledge of cultural diversity in caring for patients while providing for patient treatment and other patient activities.
Acquire, maintain and demonstrate current knowledge of policies, procedures, directives and Nursing Practices needed to provide quality patient care.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirement: Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
Agency Requirement: LPN II:Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing and six (6) months nursing experience. Successful completion of an eighty (80) hour Pharmacology course documented proficiency in the administration of medications may be substituted for the one (1) year experience requirement. Must be licensed by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing (LLR).

Physical Qualifications: Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb at least two (2) or three (3) flights of stairs. Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in patient areas for long periods. Must be able to work with repetitive unusual patient behaviors.
