SC Department of Public Safety IT Consultant II in Richland County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities General Responsibility: Recommends, develops, configures, installs, monitors, and supports the patching of the agency's server and desktop environment. Maintain server and desktop images for current patching and driver levels. Provide third party software patching. Provide monthly and on demand patching reports to the IT Director, Security Director, Server and Desktop Managers. Serve as a technical lead to include high level support and troubleshooting knowledge. Specific Duties Execute the SLED server and desktop vulnerability management program. facilitate monthly, on demand and third party patching thru Microsoft SCCM and Avanti. Assist with high level projects, issues, efficiency of procedures and updating/patching/hardening of the server and desktop base images. Conducts research on desktop hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts, and provides recommendations to the IT staff. Conduct problem analysis of software and hardware issues, implement resolutions for related software problems, administer security and backup procedures for the SLED environment. Plans, organizes and administers end point protection products. Maintains system integrity and compliance with SLED IT standards. Assist with the management of the Horizon VDI system to include creation, maintenance and patching of the virtual desktops used within the SLED environment. Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification; or an Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and four years of relevant experience. Moderate to complex problem solving skills and effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience with moderate to complex hardware/software including Windows server and Windows 10 OS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager. Experience with basic networking technologies. Position may require travel and may include overnight travel and requires the ability be able to lift 15-100 pounds. Candidate must pass a national fingerprint background check and pass a polygraph examination. This position supports 24/7 infrastructure and candidate will be on rotating call schedule. Preferred Qualifications VMWare and Ivanti third patching software experience a plus.
