SC Department of Public Safety Human Services Coordinator I (Mental Health Counselor III) #168 in Richland County, South Carolina
Job Responsibilities
This position is located at Department of Mental Health/Columbia Area Mental Health Center, CAF School Based Services, CAMHC #168.
Under general supervision, provide advanced assessment, crisis management, short- and long-term individual and family therapy, and case management services for children and their families who present with psychiatric needs. The main goal of interventions will be to reduce psychiatric symptomatology and increase positive functioning within a variety of ecological systems. Services are delivered in school-based setting. *As a school based counselor in mental health services, you may be assigned to Richland School District I, II or Lexington/Richland 5, whichever school district is in need of providing school-based services to their students. * Also requires the ability to do concurrent documentation.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirements: A bachelor's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
Agency Requirements: A master's degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences and two (2) years of post graduate counseling experience of which must have been in a clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications
CAMHC Prefers: Ability to perform child and adolescent (birth to 18 years of age) mental health assessments, assign DSM-IV diagnoses, assess levels of potential lethality of suicidal/homicidal behavior/ideation, develop treatment plans, and manage the treatment of children and adolescents; also familiarity with child and adolescent stages of development.
Licensure preferred; licensure supervision available.
