About Our Agency
The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) is the state agency
that plans, develops, coordinates and funds services for South Carolinians with the severe,
- lifelong disabilities of:
- intellectual disability and related disabilities
- autism spectrum disorder
- traumatic brain injury
- spinal cord injury and similar disability Assists Service Unit Reporting and Billing (SURB) department with processing bills from providers. Assist with audit/analysis of Provider reporting of billable activity. Assist with processing of accounts payable invoices. Gather Medicaid payments and unit stats to build revenue project process. Create and maintain management tracking worksheets. Gather provider payments and stats on early intervention (EI) and case management (CM) to build trend analysis for fee-for-service model. Develop South Carolina Enterprise Information System Business Warehouse (SCEIS BW) reports as requested.
This internship will begin as soon as possible and could extend over multiple semesters and through the summer. The selected candidate will work up to twenty-five (25) hours per week.
*This position will be located within the Central Office of the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located at 3440 Harden Street Ext., Columbia, SC 29203. *
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Must be a rising Junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.

Ability to exercise judgment and discretion. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively.
