SC Department of Public Safety Administrative Coordinator I in Richland County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Central Office, 2414 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

This position will be responsible for learning several aspects of billing for SCDMH. Position responsible for maintaining and updating patient’s eligibility and insurance details. Capable of navigating web portals for researching and verifying benefits. Run and review report for proper claims filing and follow-up to maintain timely billing procedures. Will be responsible for all electronic claim uploads and billing through clearinghouse. Also remit posting, updating third party payer details, and researching any denials or concerns to completion. Assist with processing remittance advice online from Emedix system. Serves as backup to assist manager when needed. Will maintain standard of corporate compliance to organization.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience in medical claims processing, professional management, public administration, or administrative services. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.

Additional Comments

In this position, you must be capable of researching medical claims records to obtain accurate accounting of finance, auditing, receipts, and other financial transactions. You must also have extensive knowledge of healthcare insurance policies, medical claim forms, claims processing software, and billing processes.
