Spinvi Active Directory Engineer in North Charleston, South Carolina

Spinvi is hiring an Active Directory Engineer for a NIWC contract to deliver virtualization engineering, cloud engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, system administration, configuration management, cybersecurity, training curriculum development, technical support, test and evaluation, lifecycle logistics, and sustainment for a program in support of the Program Executive Office (PEO) Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4I) Program Office, Acquisition Program Office PMA268, Program Management Warfare (PMW) PMW790, PMW160, PMW150, PMW120 & NAVY INFORMATION FORCES (NAVIFOR) for Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat, and Intelligence (C5I) stakeholders.

Candidate will be expected to maintain technical expertise in multiple areas of network and computer hardware and software and be consistently willing to learn new technologies.


  • Twelve (12) years of hands-on experience with Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) and C5ISR fields to include three (3) of the following five (5) areas: Systems Requirements, Operational Requirements, Data Analysis, Test & Evaluation, and Training. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.

  • Recognized expert who has demonstrated industry and/or public service (e.g., federal, state, or local) leadership in Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) and C5ISR field.


  • Manage a complex active directory tree which includes: Multiple domains, Multiple trust relationships/types, Group policies, OUs, Sites, 2-factor authentication, Firewalls, and Enclaves.

  • Design and manage various active directory services such as DoD PKI certificates, replication, Lightweight Directory Services, ADAM, Active Directory Certificate Services, Identity Federation, SAML, OAuth2, ADFS and Azure AD

  • Automate tasks using scripts using Powershell, ADSI, Python, WSUS, SCCM, etc.

  • Develop documentation utilizing enterprise standardized templates including: Installation and Configuration Guides, white papers, design and engineering test plans, Information Assurance/Cyber documentation to support accreditation requirements, systems scans and risk assessment documentation.

  • Write other non-templated documentation as needed to support tasks like: process and procedures documents for operational support, lessons learned, diagrams, systems administration guidelines, systems set-up documentation, hardware integration test plans and results.

  • Interpret security documentation, procedures and guidelines; such as the DISA STIG, DoD guidance then incorporate necessary provisions into build scripts, Group Policy Objects, Installation and Configuration design documents and lab builds enforcing and solidifying standards, security procedures, and controls ensuring integrity of the Identity Management Framework of the lab and enterprise.

  • Provide expertise for key Microsoft Active Directory (AD) concepts such as replication, Sites and Services, DNS, trusts, Active Directory objects and attributes, LDAP, Global Catalog, Group Policy, Group Policy Objects, permissions, scoping, and link order.

  • Manage, Troubleshoot, and provide engineering expertise with networking fundamentals, multi-factor authentication, cloud computing/as-a-service concepts, and authentication vs. authorization.

  • Manage, Troubleshoot, and provide engineering expertise with Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Group Policy (GPO), Cert management, PKI, AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, Group Policy and Organizational Units.

  • Provide systems engineering requirements to ensure that technical and operational requirements are achievable and being satisfied with the proposed technologies.

  • Provide support in validating and verifying requirements, requirements analysis and decomposition, requirements test/verification/validation, and reporting.

  • Manage, maintain, and enhance current and future baselines. This effort will encompass hands on technical engineering efforts required to define, develop, test and implement software baselines.

  • Provide Technology Investigations of apparent solutions to prove how the possible solutions fulfill the technical and/or operational requirements.

  • Review/Modify Configuration Item Configuration Document (CICD) to ensure they are accurate in both execution and scope. Ensure system security compliance is in accordance with latest Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) available.


Candidate must have a current Secret clearance

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

  • Current DoD 8570 certification

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and occasionally datacenters. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Level of noise is low to moderate.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours may be allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work the minimum hours each pay period to maintain full-time status.


Occasional Travel may be required for this position.
