Position Summary: The nursing assistant participates in the provision of nursing care by performing basic activities of patient care and related support services as delegated by the licensed nurse.
Experience/Qualifications: Graduate from a RN School of Nursing eligible to sit for NCLEX. Must provide documentation of degree awarded
and date degree awarded. Candidates must receive a minimum “meets standard” rating on the most recent annual or 90-day evaluation,
must have received no written disciplinary corrective actions or no more than two verbal counseling or informal counseling sessions within
the last 12 months.
Education: NT IV – RN student with documentation of graduation from a program of nursing. ADN required/ BSN preferred
Verification of eligibility to sit for NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination)
The Nurse Tech IV will have 120 calendar days from graduation date to pass the NCLEX exam
The Nurse Tech IV must be a licensed RN by the South Carolina LLR within 60 days of passing the NCLEX exam.
Failure to pass NCLEX or secure a RN position within 120 calendar days of graduation will results in downward transfer to another
- Failure to pass the NCLEX exam or become a SC licensed RN within the designated time frame will result in a downward transfer
to a qualifying position or discharge of employment depending on the needs of the organization and current pool of licensed RN’s
available to the unit.
- Failure to pass the NCLEX exam, become a SC licensed RN, or secure an RN position within one year from graduation date will
result in an additional downward transfer or discharge of employment depending on the needs of the organization and current pool
of licensed RN’s available to the unit.
Special Skills: Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the GHS Staff Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the GHS Staff Development Office are approved by Staff development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two years.
Physical Requirements: Medium While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
