Humana Data and Reporting Professional 2 in Lancaster, South Carolina


The Data and Reporting Professional 2 generates ad hoc reports and regular datasets or report information for end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts. The Data and Reporting Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.


Responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design. Will develop analysis practices and enhance reporting capabilities. They will also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements. Will provide role support and advise internal customers to enable data driven decision-making.

Will be responsible for trend identification using various mathematical and statistical calculations to determine how the data sampled might best be applied to the business need and quality improvement.


40% Review and analyze data either through statistical analysis, data mining, and other proven analysis techniques. Verify analysis findings and provide results and recommendation to management. Develop and implement innovative predictive modeling databases to optimize statistical /mathematical efficiency and quality.

30% Incorporate analytical skills to collect, organize, and disseminate large amounts of information understanding the importance of data detail and accuracy. Incorporate working knowledge of medical billing, reimbursement, and health insurance practices. Maintain understanding of health insurance industry trends and best practices.

15% Utilize PC-based applications specifically used for data management, analysis and predictive modeling. Using industry best practices provider results and recommendations to Cost Management leadership. Move from project to project as needed based on direction from leadership.

15% Utilize data analysis tools, such as SAS and database language tools like SQL. Develop, implement and run queries. Generate standard reports to be used for weekly and monthly analysis. Present data findings to Management showing accurate analysis skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Our Department of Defense contract requires U.S. Citizenship

  • Successfully receive interim approval for government security clearance (eQIP - Electronic Questionnaire for Investigation Processing)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical data analysis experience

  • Three years experience in healthcare data analysis

  • Understanding of medical claim billing and coding requirements

  • Experience and proficiency in Tableau or related statistical databases

  • Experience with SQL

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel and Word

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts and policy manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and training documents

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

  • Problem solving abilities

  • Self-motivated and task oriented

  • Able to prioritize assignments with little guidance

  • High degree of self-awareness and emotional intelligence
