SC Department of Public Safety OSHA Officer II (61036157) in Kershaw County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities

Conducts physical inspections of facilities to detect hazards in building, equipment and machinery. Works closely with the Resident Maintenance Engineer (RME) to correct any discrepancies found to keep facilities and grounds in compliance with OSHA and SCDOT guidelines. Performs routine inspections on road work crews concentrating on proper work zone set up, safety attire (PPE), and job hazard analysis. Recommends corrections and follows up with supervisor and RME. Investigates all employee injuries and vehicle/equipment accidents. Gathers information and completes necessary reports and logs information into the Risk Management System. Serves as primary safety trainer for New Employee Orientation, CPR, First Aid, AAA Driver Improvement Program, etc. Provides training and/or guidance to lesser experienced OSHA Officers in the disrict. Conducts monthly safety meetings on required training. During safety meetings discusses accident and injury prevention. Logs training into Learning Management System (LMS) and monitors LMS for upcoming safety training and data entry. Oversees new entry level driving training for assigned county. Maintains the Safety Data Sheet Books as required be the Employee Safety Manual.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience in occupational safety or industrial hygiene programs; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
