Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates strong organizational, planning and time management skills

  • Interact with integrity, always displaying a professional appearance and attitude

  • Manage all aspects of the day to day operation of the facility in a safe and environmentally sound manner

  • Ensure compliance with all project safety, environmental and contractual responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of professionalism and technical expertise

  • Perform routine Quality Assurance checks of solar technician work

  • Assist solar technicians from time to time in various solar maintenance and troubleshooting activities

  • Compile all necessary information to create an operations and maintenance manual/file

  • Ensure safe work practices including OSHA standards and company safety programs and policies

  • Inspect the work and establish punch lists, project acceptance

  • Ensure full compliance of warranty and services obligations, including contract and warranty administration, and site operations and maintenance

  • Troubleshoot PV system performance issues and locate & isolate ground faults

  • Review manuals and drawings to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment; Manage coordination with interconnecting utility

  • Represents the company as a job site representative to the client, utility, authorities

  • Management of subcontractors and vendors as needed for O&M, including specification development, bidding support and contractor oversight

  • Prevents deficiencies through continuing quality control inspections

  • Work closely with the field installation & electricians and the engineering staff acting as their field representative, ensuring construction complies with the QA/QC requirements

  • Conduct site safety assessments and identify all safety hazards on job-site

  • Conducting on-site routine maintenance, service, trouble shooting and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities

  • DC and AC testing included but not limited to polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, I-V curve tracing + Maintaining the vehicle, tools, meters and truck stock

  • Creating service reports and maintaining spare parts inventory

  • Create operability and major issue/downtime reports Preferred Education and/or Work Experience

  • Manage team of solar electricians and repair crews to complete all system warranty repairs and service requests

  • Communicating opportunities and recommendations for modification or improvements to processes to assure optimum efficiency of the company assets.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned

  • Daily response to emails and phone calls from customers and crews

  • Manage contractually obligated scheduled maintenance activities

  • Oversee reactive and corrective maintenance projects

  • Source and schedule subcontractors

  • Report critical metrics to customers and our Operations Manager on a regular basis

  • Participate in the development and execution of procedures and new product initiatives

  • Remote monitoring and diagnostics of various monitoring platforms

  • Demonstrate fluency with test equipment including OEM software applications

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent technical, analytical and communication skills

  • Excellent ability to communicate both verbal and written among technical and non-technical personnel

  • Self-driven to exceed internal and external customer expectations

  • 5+ years of experience PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications and monitoring

  • A minimum of two (4) years of supervisory/management experience.

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License

  • Perform routine Quality Assurance checks of solar technician work.

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software

  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb portable ladders without assistance

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

  • Experience in electrical generation facilities

  • Experience with the operation of various SCADA systems

  • Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, I-V Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection

  • Strong Analytical and Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found

  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices

  • Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams / schematics

  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage construction plans

  • Strong understanding of all aspects of solar PV design, installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting

  • Ability to identify proper electrical workmanship practices

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Detail oriented with the ability to Multi-Task

  • Ability to work under pressure with strict time deadlines

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • NABCEP Certified Installation Professional (Preferred)

  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight

  • OSHA 10 Training (OSHA 30 Preferred)

  • NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in workplace

  • Fluent Spanish is beneficial
