The Mechanical Engineer must be a highly motivated and self-driven team player that can perform in a dynamic engineering environment. The preferred candidate will be able to bring specific system knowledge and experience to the design team along with a strong desire for innovation.

The Mechanical Engineer reports to the program manager.


  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain electro-mechanical products, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying know ledge of engineering principles

  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of designs to ensure that equipment and systems are installed and function ing according to specifications

  • Research and analyzedata, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design modifications or new system applications

  • Establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and supply of materials required to maintain equipment andsystems in prescribed condition

  • Participate inestimation and proposal preparation activities

  • Provide technical and project input for preparation and review of contract documents and terms

  • Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects

  • Contribute to test control apparatus and equipment design and develop proceduresfor testing products

  • Altersand/or modifydesign to obtain specified functional and operational performance

  • Conferwithpeers and stakeholdersto implement designs, resolve system operationerrors, and implementprocedures

  • Review and evaluateexistingmechanical design drawings and specifications

  • Create and present design and engineering descriptive data for internaland customer design reviews

  • Keep current on future technologies and products to determine where and how such products can be incorporated into designs


Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with design and analysis of aircraft systems including hydraulics, environmental control systems, landing gears, and structures

  • Minimum 1-3 years stress analysis experience including:

  • loading calculations (boundary conditions, free body diagrams, load path)

  • impact and fatigue analysis

  • analysis of all basic structural element types and fastening systems

  • material selection

  • weld analysis to D1.1 / D1.2

  • Experience using 3D CAD Software (Inventor and AutoCAD Preferred)

  • Minimum 1-3 years using finite element analysis (FEA) tools

  • Hydraulic system analysis and design preferred

  • Familiarity with:

  • Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of models and drawings

  • Raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture/distribution of goods

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with little guidance

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent required

  • Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a security clearance when required
