Novant Health MDI System Administrator Intermediate in Fort Mill, South Carolina
Responsible for the operational administration and management of the applications, hardware, and configuration of systems that support the automatic capture of readings from biomedical devices into a standard electronic format that can be reported to an electronic medical record. This person will be the focal point for troubleshooting problems and identifying the correct resources to resolve data flow issues. The MDI System Administrator Intermediate will also ensure that processes integrating any new devices are followed and testing is complete.
Digital Products and Services team members are responsible for securely managing information systems throughout their lifecycle, including; knowing what information systems are within their scope of responsibility, understanding what sensitive data is stored, transmitted, or processed on those information systems, enforcing the security principles of least privilege and least functionality, knowing what events may constitute an information security incident, and understanding their role in security incident response activities.
Process: Assist with the build, implementation and technical support of medical device integration technology (Capsule) within the hospital environment. Serves as a primary technical liaison to outside vendors (Capsule Technologies, Philips Medical Systems, GE Medical Systems, etc.). Maintains medical device inventory database. Coordinates and performs functional and integrated testing of medical device integration technology. Provides post-implementation support of medical device integration technology. Assist with the deployment and maintenance of BMDI terminal servers across the system. Assist with the maintenance of Capsule application and virtual servers across the system. Proficient in DPS processes to include but not limited to analysis, design, build, testing and change control. Ability to take complex assignments and successfully complete in a timely fashion with minimal to no supervision required. Strong organizational skills. Able to prioritize and triage workload to meet timelines. Completes 24x7 production on-call rotation and responsibilities as assigned. Readily available after hours and weekends for escalations or requests for assistance from team members.
Collaboration: Collaborates with cross-functional design teams to design process workflows and identify device integration opportunities. Works closely with other integrated medical system teams, DPS, Clinical Engineering/Biomed and Procurement/Purchasing department. Coordinates implementation of new and revised functions with all DPS personnel, vendors, consultants and partners. Demostrates strong professional interpersonal skills in dealing with others.
Analysis: Completes analysis of DPS architecture requirements and medical device compatibility to implement medical device integration. Strong analytical skills required for new integration, problem resolution and support of medical device integration. Demonstrates ability to develop creative solutions to complex issues. Thinks strategically to help define the answers to the changes within the organization.
Leadership: Demonstrates leadership skills in problem solving, education, quality assurance and effective communication. Shows full ownership and accountability for simple to complex assignments from start to finish. Strong change advocate for the organization, showing flexibility as priorities change. Establishes credible relationships with partners to drive change. Readily mentors and assists team members as needed without being asked. Provides input on team members for yearly performance evaluation feedback. Strong relationship management skills that include excellent listening and consultative abilities.
Quality Improvement: Ensures medical device integration best practices and standard operating procedures are followed. Participates in testing events, implementations and upgrades. Follows the MDI change control process.

Education: Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Business or other related field required. Computer Science or Computer Informatino Systems preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in IT Healthcare environment or related company performing system medical device integration or dat analysis required.
License/Certification: EPIC Bridges Certification required. Must pass all certifications with a passing grade within three tries for each test/project.
Additional skills required: Medical device integration experience using the Capsule Bio Medical Device Integration Engine. Understanding of bio medical device integration methodology and architecture. HL7 standards and expert understanding of integration methodology and architecture. Understanding of infrastructure (networking, server architecture.
Additional skills preferred: File transfer standards (sftp). Product application support.
