Summary

The Incumbent will serve as a Tractor Operator in the Grounds Shop under the general supervision of the Fleet/Grounds Supervisor, with second level direction provided by the Maintenance Control Manager.

Responsibilities

Performs duties associated with ground maintenance operation such as irrigation system repairs to include using backhoes to remove soil to repair lines. Operates equipment not limited to: zero turn riding mowers, farm tractor with and without attachments, skid steer loader with and without attachments, forklift, 5-ton dump truck, tillers, edger, weed-eaters, trimmers, clippers, chain saws, commercial pressure washer, aerators and sprayers. Perform repairs on difference types of fence, replacing/repairing/patching concrete sidewalks, repairing/patching holes in roadways, etc. Incumbent must have knowledge of building concrete forms, mixing, placing and finishing concrete for repairing sidewalks. May be called upon to perform other duties associated with grounds maintenance operation such as irrigation system repairs, chemical and fertilizer spraying, clearing ice, snow and other debris during inclement weather, raking leaves, trash and debris pickup, emptying trash containers, cutting down and trimming trees, shrubs, removing stumps. During the course of work, incumbent remains observant to notice and report to supervisor any situation which may have an impact on grounds maintenance operations, such as fallen trees, plant disease, pest activity, low supplies, damaged or inoperable equipment, etc. Incumbent may occasionally operate various types of vehicles, gasoline or diesel in all types of weather and traffic. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 06:00am - 2:30pm (subject to change based on agency needs)

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Incumbent will often be required to make repairs that will require great physical efforts to lift, pull, push, and carry objects of varying weights, sizes and shapes. He/she will be required to climb, crawl, bend and may be subjected to standing, crouching and stooping for extended periods of time, as well as lifting 50 pounds or more. Incumbent will work inside and outdoors in conditions that will often be dirty, dusty and greasy. He/she will be required to work in areas with poor lighting and ventilation and will often be exposed to very hot and cold temperatures and will experience soiling of his/her clothing and skin surfaces. Incumbent will work in areas where unpleasant fumes and odors are present. He/she will be exposed to hazardous materials, chemicals and infectious diseases and will be required to use all personal protective equipment available to him and follow all policies and procedures dealing with confined spaces, hazardous materials and infection control.
