SC Department of Public Safety Psychiatrist in Chesterfield County, South Carolina
Under limited supervision of the Psychiatric Services Chief, provides Medical/Psychiatric care of assigned clients and provides psychiatric services including emergencies, evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and treatments to Adults and/or Children.
Working with Tri-County Community Mental Health Center provides an exciting opportunity to work in the field of telemedicine. *Psychiatrists can be stationed in one of the Center's clinics and provide services to the Center's other locations. *Initial and follow-up psychiatric consultations can be completed with patients of all ages with the Center's telepsychiatry technology. All telepsychiatry services are documented in the Agency's Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
This position provides a unique opportunity to work at a Mental Health Center that employs lessons learned from a four-year SAMHSA Primary Behavioral Health Care Integration program. As a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals, the psychiatrist will work with an integrated team of primary care providers to address the whole health care needs of Tri-County Community Mental Health Center's clients. The ability to consult with primary care providers and have labs drawn and results delivered on-site allows for a highly effective treatment program. This position also provides an opportunity to work where Clinical Care Coordination and evidence-based wellness and tobacco recovery programs are delivered and producing outstanding outcomes.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina and completion of full residency (4 years) in Psychiatry. Graduation from an approved School of Medicine. Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of psychiatric medicine. Valid driver's license.
Extensive knowledge of the latest treatment modalities and techniques in General Psychiatry. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and the practice of congruent documentation is preferred. Individual must have the ability and skills to work with a wide variety of patients and staff of various backgrounds. Must be comfortable with consulting with outside agencies and representing Tri-County Community Mental Health Center and South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH) to others when needed. Individual must be fully licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina and be able to prescribe controlled substances.

TCCMHC is also an approved site of the National Health Service Corps, (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000 to employees of NHSC-approved sites.
