The Process Technician will be responsible for the following activities: directing and performing mold and/or material changes as dictated by the production schedule; performing process troubleshooting, part inspections and various other functions to insure part conformity and quality; verifying paperwork for jobs and completion of inspections at startup of jobs and in-process inspections; monitoring and preparing support equipment i.e. water, circulators, grinders, robotics, etc. as needed in the production area; and assisting in break coverage as needed


  • Set & start up production jobs while using current process procedures and databases for documenting and troubleshooting.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on molding machines & other equipment such as electric and hydraulic mold machines, hot runner tooling, and associated machinery as necessary.

  • Monitor and report issues with injection molds, make recommendations for refurbishment based on production factors such as cycles, process capability and tooling history.

  • Record any changes to machine to correct problem, such as flash/thread/ trap caps.

  • Repair the following; core top changes, mold tips, fuses on mold temperature controllers, hydraulic cylinders on molds, hydraulic hoses from mold to machine, inspect and replace, water hoses from mold machine, inspect and replace.

  • Evaluate molding processes to update and improve quality while maintaining safety & productivity.

  • Develop and install all new injection molding equipment and document all implementation processes for all molded products.

  • Develop new processes, assess and document new and existing processes. Implement and evaluate changes to existing processes designed to improve product quality, productivity and overall equipment efficiency.

  • Trial new tooling and equipment and make modifications as needed to meet quality and production goals.

  • Use creative skills to assist in solving design or manufacturing issues or constraints.

  • Work with equipment and material vendors to resolve machine and material issues.

  • Facilitate and support plant safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts.

  • Monitor all manufacturing processes and maintain optimization of all equipment.

  • Review production orders scheduled to run on a daily and weekly schedule.

  • Make sure cycle time is recorded, and if any cycle time changes are to be noted.

  • Shift change – must communicate with next shift any changes/concerns/problems.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators and other molding personnel.


Position Title:

Process Technician – Injection Molding

Education Required:

  • High School diploma or GED is required, Associates Degree in related field preferred.

  • Technical College/Injection Molding Apprenticeship highly desirable.

Work Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with relevant exposure to Injection Molding processes.

  • Scientific Injection Molding is a plus.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude

  • Demonstrated ability to start-up, operate and shut down process related equipment. Must be able to work independently on new process development as well as troubleshooting current production issues.
