The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Charleston, South Carolina region. If you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, you might be right for this position. Your responsibilities in this role

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Commercial Real Estate Investment

  • Expertise in Asset Inventory

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired
