Hyatt Bell Captain in CHARLESTON, South Carolina
Summary:The Bell Captain is responsible for overseeing the staff that creates/enhances the Arrival/Departure experience of the Four-Diamond Boardwalk Inn and the Four-Diamond Village at Wild Dunes to our guests. The primary responsibilities beyond service levels include but are not limited to assisting guests with their luggage, assisting as a valet or transportation driver, administrative tasks, arrival/departure event planning, providing leadership to staff at all times, and providing the front desk with any additional assistance necessary.
The Bell Captain shall always strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture as well as promoting Wild Dunes Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!
Essential job Functions:
Escort guests to and from their respective rooms
Assist guests by delivering their luggage or any other personal items
Delivering guest messages, amenities, or other items as required
Performing special guest services such as maintaining a clean lobby and front entrance, shining shoes, sending faxes, giving directions, and providing guest with information of the resort and surrounding areas.
Participate as part of the hotel’s valet or transportation service when needed
Going above and beyond providing a minimum Four-diamond level service to every guest
Opens doors for incoming guests
Supporting the Front Desk or Concierge, answering phones, assisting guests with questions
Attend all monthly and resort required meetings
Keeping the Valet ramp and Bell area safe, secure, and consistently operating smoothly at all times
Scheduling of Bell and Valet staff
Maintain Inventory and Supply level for Bell Services (ordering guest/operation supplies).
Coaching of staff members when necessary
Conducting interviews and assisting in the hiring of Bell Service Staff
Maintains a safe environment for guests
Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of Wild Dunes Resort including use of guest name when possible & good eye contact with each guest.
Provides room orientations upon check in
Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude
Communicates all pertinent information to the Resort Services Manager or the MOD
Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor.
Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.
Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Wild Dunes Resort dress code standards.
Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues always.
Colleague is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior hospitality experience required
Prior valet experience required
At least one-year customer service experience required
Supervisory experience preferred
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must have valid Driver’s license and meet resort driving standards
Must be able to drive guests safely in extreme weather conditions (rain, wind, fog)
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must be able to work well under pressure
Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
Must possesses excellent communication skills
Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
Must always ensure a teamwork environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates
Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
EMPLOYEES WHO ARE HIRED AT WILD DUNES RESORT WILL BE VERIFIED THROUGH THE FEDERAL E-VERIFY SYSTEM.
Must be able to stand and walk throughout the day, with intermittent periods of stair climbing;
Must be able to repetitively lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs.;
Must be able to twist, bend and squat frequently; kneel or crawl occasionally; infrequently climb a ladder
Primarily an outside job - must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat); with exposure to chemicals and dust.
Must be able to perform repetitive hand & arm movements and simple grasping constantly; pushing & pulling, squeezing and overhead reaching frequently.
