Lucas Engineering and Management Services, Inc. Warehouse Supervisor in Beaufort, South Carolina

Responsible for the safety and supervision of the warehouse team during a shift. The ideal candidate will supervise and coordinate the workers engaged in receiving, transporting, stocking, order filling and shipping.Lucas's business partner, GlassWRX, is an advanced technology and materials science company that uses technology as a design tool to help cities and industry up-cycle waste glass into high-value planet-saving materials.Job Functions:Maintains cost per cubic foot for labor used in warehouseEnsures that all orders are verified by productEnsures that all dates are sent correctly to each customer following all specifications issued to his/her in writingMaintains product rotation in accordance to First In-First Out (FIFO)Ensures all trucks leave at their schedule departure timeKeeps employees informed on factors relating to their work assignment, work progress and opportunity for advancementMonitors workers to ensure that they achieve case movement requirements - must follow late delivery procedure if late departure is anticipatedMust ensure that all GMPs are followed that pertain to warehouseMaintain damages at minimum and follow the necessary procedures when they occurConducts accurate inventories by codeEnsures that warehouse personnel are trained in all aspects of the operation in compliance with OSHA standardsParticipates as an active member in the safety and quality committeesPerforms safety and quality auditsConducts monthly training sessions on safety and quality for warehouse employeesParticipates in inventory assignmentsMaintains an open and continuous communication with production and maintenance supervisorsPerforms other duties as requiredEducation and Experience Requirements:High School diploma, GED or equivalent required; college degree preferredMinimum two years of experience in operations required, preferably within a manufacturing environment2 years in a supervisory capacity or four years as a lead in a manufacturing environment required.*Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.Safety Requirements:Understands and follows plant/warehouse safety and proceduresAvoids or prevents hazardous conditions from developingWears appropriate protective equipment as required; dresses and conducts self in a safe mannerKeeps work area clean and orderly and maintains Lean 5SParticipates in plant safety objectivesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Requested:Leadership abilityForklift certification is required, but will train to obtain certificationMust have a clean driving recordComputer skillsCommunication and training skillsGood math skillsFamiliar with good manufacturing practices and OSHA requirementsCritical thinking skills - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsTime management skills - managing one's own time and the time of othersActive listening skills - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate timesSpeaking ability - talking to others to convey information effectivelyCoordination skills - adjusting actions in relation to others' actions
