Savannah River Remediation is seeking a Manager, Quality and Contractor Assurance to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

This position directs Contractor Assurance System (CAS) and Quality Assurance (QA) Programs and personnel for all SRR nuclear facilities and programs. Provides strategic leadership on programs, procedures, and assessments to effectively implement Environmental, Safety, Health, Quality Assurance and Contractor Assurance (ESHQA and CA), safeguards and security, cyber security, and emergency preparedness requirements in a compliant and effective manner.

  • Executes leadership duties in accordance with SRR Values and Expectations of Safety, Integrity, Ownership, Teamwork, and Continuous Improvement

  • Manages QA and Quality Control (QC) managers and professionals for SRR facilities including operations, construction, and supply chain quality organizations

  • Manages company CAS program manager and leads including matrix management of Functional Area Managers (e.g., Safety and Health, Environmental) for CAS program execution.

  • Functions as strategic point of contact between other site contractors, parent companies, the Department of Energy (DOE), and other external agencies on CAS and QA program health and effectiveness.

  • Directs CAS planning, execution and reporting of requirements defined by the Department of Energy (DOE) via such directives as DOE Order 226.1, Contractor Oversight.

  • Oversees policies/procedures, and executes functional leadership for all QA activities for SRR as outlined in 10CFR830, Nuclear Safety Management, DOE Order 414.1, Quality Assurance, NQA-1, QA Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications, and DOE/RW-0333P, QA Requirements and Description for the Defense Waste Processing well as other applicable rules and regulations. Oversees the implementation of program procedures and process improvements.

  • Directs health monitoring of CAS and QA program implementation for all SRR projects, identifies needed improvements, and conveys to executive staff.

  • Establishes programs that promote and monitor Nuclear Safety Culture within the company.

  • Provides strategic leadership and communications with SRR executive team and external customers (e.g., DOE Savannah River (SR), DOE Headquarters, Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board (DNFSB) on all CAS and QA policies and strategic issues for SRR.

  • Ensures all activities by CAS, QA and QC personnel are focused on accelerated completion of waste disposition activities, including timely and effective completion of company level CAS and QA related performance objectives with DOE.

  • Leads development and mentoring of QA/QC and CA program personnel to

  • ensure availability of fully qualified resources to support current and future SRR missions

  • Integrates CAS and QA programs with major functional areas such as Maintenance, Engineering, Transportation and Nuclear Safety to ensure programs are executed in an effective and safe manner

  • Manages all aspects of the section's operations to include planning, resource allocation, and budgeting.

  • Supports the ESHQA and CA director in managing complex, multidiscipline issues across multiple functional areas.

  • Other duties as assigned.

About us:

Savannah River Remediation LLC, a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRR is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders Amentum, Bechtel, BWXT and Jacobs. The SRR Team is responsible for the closure of waste tanks, the operation of the Savannah River Site’s Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations and associated production and disposal facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 15+ years progressive relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering or science

  • Substantive experience in a nuclear/high hazard facility

  • In-depth knowledge in quality assurance, quality control, complex safety related/mission critical procurement strategies, and oversight activities.

  • In-depth knowledge in performance improvement/CAS processes (e.g., responsible for Conduct of Operations program effectiveness) or equivalent

  • Highly developed organizational skills

  • Project management experience

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with ability to convey complex subject matter

  • Current or previous NQA-1 or DOE RW O333P auditor or lead auditor (or equivalent) qualification

  • Current or previous ASNT TC 1A Level II or Level III Nondestructive testing certifications or certifications in other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical)
